accenture match play

The Accenture Match Play has been delayed until Thursday, due to what else? The rain. Two-time defending champion Tiger Woods will have a tester in the first round: Nick Price. If given the chance to close out Tiger, Nick will unlikely pull a "John Rollins," who was beating Tiger last year until the very end when the nerves kicked in.

Remember Nick is coming off some medical problems...

Another thing to consider...the course will play wet the first two days, so tip your hat to the longer player. No rain expected for the rest of the weekend though.

How about Daly vs. Leonard in the first round. Length vs. consistancy in this battle between two prior British open Champs.

Nice point, Power Fade. The Daly v. Leonard match up is intriguing. I give the slight edge to Leonard since he won 1 tournament this year.

The bloom seems to be falling off the rose for this event; complaints of course conditions and Ernie not even showing up to compete. I guess $1.3M doesn't hold their interest for 4 or 5 days worth of effort.

I disagree. The match play doesn't need Ernie to make it exciting. Tiger, Vijay, Phil, Sergio, Retief, Paddy, Darren Clarke, Daly, Leonard -- the list goes on.

Another note of interest:
One bracket seems lopsided...that would be the Sam Snead or Hefty Lefty bracket. Phil, Garcia, Ames, Scott, Howell, Maruyama. All hot or good match play players fighting it out in one spot.
Whoever wins that bracket is going to be worn out by the time they play the semifinals match.

Daly's 1 up with one to play. Chug a beer and coast in on fumes, fat boy.

Who is O'Hern? I think he snuck into the tournament illegally.
The Bobby Jones bracket is all americans, the Gary player bracket is all foreigners...how appropriate. Sergio's bracket is a monster...Toms, Sergio, Mickelson, and Scott. Tough.
Then the Gary Player bracket is all players you would expect to lead by 5 strokes in the British Open after the third day and then shoot 80 on Sunday.
And how about Billy Mayfair at the Tucson? Mr. Cutmaker is on fire. Who'd have thought he'd be in the top 50 on the career earnings list?
