sean o'hair: an impressive second
22-year-old Sean O'Hair didn't win the Byron Nelson Classic, losing to Ted Purdy by a stroke. But he did win a lot of fans, given the turbulent relationship he's had with a domineering father with whom he hasn't spoken with in 2 years. When asked about his father during the post-tournament interview, Sean was quite graceful, saying that he loves his father, but that's all he would say about the topic.

Yeah, I actually am watching this on Tivo right now and I must say I'm impressed witht he kid. I think he has a ton of potential and could make it up the latter with some solid work...however I'm not sure if he has the nerves to really become a major threat.

Per the link to the article in the post, you know the reason for the disagreement. It was also an article in one of the last golf magazines. You would think a father would let go any obligations from his son for a percentage of future earnings, but at least his personality wasn't so extreme that he put a lawsuit against his son (so far) for any of his earnings. Considering his play last weekend, one has to wonder if that might be the case if his son continues to succeed.
seems his dad had a big influence on his golf - did the kid even want to be a golfer or did his dad force him into it - if his dad spent all the family savings and time then he deserves what an agent would get and 10% (granted could be a ton of money) but instead of close to 700,000 the kid made 600,000 for 4 days work - let him go work at a job for 25k a year and then see if he mines that 10%- wish my parents would of push me like that and if sean really wants to get even with his dad Screw up every event and never get the pga card but i think the dad deserves a break because i dont thing sean would be as far if if it werent for his dad - but i dont know the whole story so any feel free to fill in any of the blanks - right now hes my favorite golfer because hes got a controversy thing going - something severly lacking from from golf right now - the only thing this year has proven is that Phil Mickelson (no mater how great will always be second to Tiger and that sucks - that match a few months ago when it was phil vs tiger in the final pairing that was phils time to send the message and all he did was take us back 2001- 2002 . but back to sean I want to know more
Sean is an example for anyone who has to overcome difficult circumstances in order to succeed.
I applaud him and his efforts. Look for him to be a force for many years.

I want to tell Sean that I will root for him the rest of my life. He is one fantastic talent. But more importantly he is a fine human being, well spoken and given his history, he has managed to be just a great guy.
