More Wie DQ food for thought
Mulligan makes some great points here about the circumstances surrounding Michelle Wie's DQ. Here is a link to an extended article about the sequences of events leading up to the disqualification. And here are two more thoughts to chew on:
1. If Michelle had involved a rules official or even her playing partner in her drop sequence and gotten approval for her drop spot, I suspect the LPGA officials would have given her the benefit of the doubt.
2. Do you think, had Wie made an amazing charge and Annika faded so that Wie pulled out a victory on Sunday, that the LPGA officials would have been quite so concerned about Saturday's drop?

2 points:
-- there needs to be a "statute of limitations" on reporting rules violations.
-- Annika's unbelievable track record was overlooked prior to the Samsung because of the Wie hype. Then, she blows away the field & Wie, to her own dismay, still grabs the headlines & spotlight.
there was no way it was going to be handled prior to the end as the TV veiwership would have evaporated. Given the fact that initally it was a "spectator" than became the reporter seems to mean that there was an awareness on saturday but economic reasons not to bring anything up till after the final event, For instance why not during the rain delays. If not
conclusive on tape that should have been the end of it. Its almost like the one official felt Michell had gotten to him on the "bee" drop. He seemed to reflect a "gotcha" mentality. For someone who hasn't played competitive Golf for 2 and one half months it was an amazing performance. Dale
