Question of the Month: Ernie's true return?
Now that he's back playing (after recovering from his knee injury), will Ernie Els live up to his full potential and be the No. 1 competitor to Tiger Woods in 2006? Or will the Big Easy be a "big doozy" and lay an egg next year?

Don't get me wrong, but the guy was getting washed up even before the injury. Any golfer who starts talking about the "little man in his head" -- sorry if that sounds suggestive -- won't be able to handle the likes of Tiger Woods. Sorry, Big Easy.
I love Ernie...but his best years are probably behind him. During Tiger's major drought, Ernie only won the British at Muirfield in 2002. He needed to "make some hay while the sun was shining".
But, he will still contend a lot and win - maybe another major.
I think that he is still young enough and motivated enough to get back to the level that he was before the knee injury, But unfortunately for him, even on his best day, when hes 100% healthy, he couldn't mentally compete with Tiger.
I believe we will see him at the top of some of the leader boards.
Gotta believe the Big Easy will return to top form and be a major contender for the 2006. Ernie has all the facets of the game to put him back in the top 5 in the world once he gets back into fulltime competitive status.
A doozie. I followed him at the Nissan a month ago. He is really not there mentally. Even though Tiger did not play well at Riviera, you can see that Tiger's focus is sharp on the needle, whereas Ernie's mind wanders off from time to time. Those little concentration lapses cost him a double bogey from 50 yards in.
Can't win like that.
