Swami's 2006 bold predictions
Predictions are worthless, but that won't stop us from making some. Better to be bold in 2006, than wimpy.
1. Tiger will win at least 2 majors, but Annika won't win more than 1
2. Paula Creamer will win her 1st major, and Natalie Gulbis her 1st pro event
3. John Daly will gain more weight than Phil Mickelson, but Phil will do better in the majors
4. Daly will show more skin in his reality show than Natalie did in hers
5. Michelle Wie will not be DQ'd ever again, and she'll win at least 2 LPGA tourneys but won't make a men's cut
6. Sean O'Hair will avoid a sophomore slump and will contend in at least 2 majors
7. Ernie Els will show no signs of injury and will have a good year
8. LPGA will gain viewers, while PGA will lose viewers
9. David Duval will not return to golf form, but his snow boarding will be better than ever
10. The Golf Channel will stoop to "The Big Break - Bikini challenge" (oops ... has this already come true? see here)

I'm missing the "bold" part of your predictions.
Masters: Tiger
U.S. Open: Adam Scott
Open Championship: Garcia
PGA Championship: Love
"Annika won't win more than one" Come on...I'd take 1 to 5 on my money on that "bold" pick. I say she'll win 3 majors, and win 9 tournaments overall.
O'Hern will make O'Hair continue to look like a freshman in the big league.
Wie will win zip, but she'll still make a heck of a lot more than me.
"Ernie Els will have a good year." In his love life? Financially? I say Ernie, despite looking good in his first tournament back, will have no wins, and miss the cut 25% of the time.
Vijay will win twice...both unimpressive tournaments.
As or Duval, he showed fine form in the off season, and I say he makes half his cuts, and even a top-ten (a miraculous prediction, considering the subject).
The United States will stun the Euros in the Ryder Cup (as well as my London partner in my foursome), win by 3 1/2 points, and I will win $1,000 from the casino.
As for me, I'll win more from my foursome than I lose. But I'll buy more pints than I get.
Here's my bold prediction: neither Tiger nor Annika will win a major this year! How about that?
Here are my predictions and comments on some of the other predictions.
Tiger and Annika major-less?!? That would be the first time since 1998. There is a fine line between genius and insanity. I guess we will see which side imgonnapickup resides.
Tiger and Annika will both win at least one major, Annika the LPGA Championship, Tiger The Masters, maybe a second for both but no more than that. Winning two majors is a lot to expect but if they do not do it, nobody else will either. Put me down for Annika winning at least 8 times, Tiger wins 6 events.
I say Creamer gets another 2 wins but no majors. At least 1 womens major winner is a name almost nobody currently knows. Gulbis still no wins. I think Pressel gets 1, maybe 2 wins. I am hoping Wie gets a win but 1 is the most I would expect partly due to the lack of events she can enter, partly due to... well we have covered that over and over. If Wie does go winless again for the 3rd straight year, look for the PGA exemptions to start drying up the media attention to shift to others and total meltdown from Team Wie which includes multiple caddie changes and so long to David Ledbetter. Wie does not make a PGA or any open cut but has a respectable showing at the Sony Open.
Daly's weight and how much skin he shows... good lord... dont even want to go there.
Ernie Els, 1 PGA win, a couple of European and world wide wins. Vijay, a couple of wins but nothing of significance. Phil 2 wins and serious contention in the Masters, US Open and PGA, winning the US Open. Sergio 1 PGA win, no majors, Adam Scott, ditto.
I am going to give Chris Dimarco a major, lets make it the PGA.
David Duval makes significant progress, a couple of respectable showings in lesser events but no wins.
Ryan Moore wins more than 1 event and is considered one of the top 10 or 15 players in the world. Jason Gore continues to gain in popularity, works on his conditioning and gets another win.
Bill Haas just barely makes it inside the top 150 money earners.
The PGAs NASCAR style playoff format never gains traction and is scrapped after one year.
And the boldest prediction of them all... AndrewsDad figures out how to hit a driver, gets his handicap close to single digits and will record his first hole in one.
