2 for Tiger
I woke up on Sunday and flipped on The Golf Channel. Lo and behold, the Dubai Desert Classic was showing, with Ernie Els leading by 2 strokes at -18 after the 10th hole. Coming back from knee surgery, Ernie clearly was enjoying himself because he was smiling after his shots. Tiger was 2 back, but hitting a lot of errant shots. Then, I made the mistake of checking my email because yahoo had already announced the winner. Tiger had won in a playoff over Ernie, who hit a bad drive and then a bad approach into the water on the 1st playoff hole. Consider it a belated birthday gift from Ernie to Tiger. Hearing that news took away all my desire to continue watching the tournament. For his victory, Tiger took home $400,000. For showing up, Tiger took home $3 million in appearance fees.
But what if Tiger had been competing at the FBR Open? We'll never know, but it would have been fantastic to see young gun JB Holmes (who clearly had his A game, see here) going up against Tiger Woods (who only had his C game on Sunday). At least for this Sunday, my money would've been on Holmes, not Woods.

My Holm boy would have rocked Wood's final round. Its pretty obvious because Tiger would have gotten booed @ 16 by some sweet bleach blonde chicks with his lackluster performance. Tiger was more worried about the way that 3M in appearence fees compounded over 30 years will get him to 1B the quickest.
Id have to say Tiger's Collection of Buicks really does not add to his bottom line. I read the MAN point list at Chipotle, and you lose 10 points for each Buick you own. Sorry Tig. Make another sweet Nike Commercial.
I also think that Daly planet is a great show. I have been watching every episode thanks to glorious invention called TiVo, and its going to be a shame when Daly dies of lung cancer, but man, what a great dude, who plays golf for the RIGHT reasons. For the Fans and the Game. Respect.
I am not Tiger Woods. Even though I still respect him a ton. Go ahead Tig...accept that $10k offer to wear an Odor Eaters patch on your collar. Go ahead...in 30 years it will be worth much more.
Its cool...Tiger's 3M in appearance fees could feed 50% of the population of Dubai for an entire year. Thats 3M Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers!
Regarding the MAN point list at Chipotle, don't you also get 20 points added for every million Buick pays you? Here is what I assume happens:
1) Tiger gets another Buick.
2)In parking lot, Tiger hands keys to some rep for the First Tee program (charitable contribution).
3) Some 12 year old future golf phenom is handed keys the following day and drives like Schwarzenegger on a motorcycle, destroying several vehicles in the parking lot.
4) Buick puts another car in Tiger's driveway the following day without notification.
5) Tiger curses under his breath...keys are passed on, and the cycle continues.
Per Tiger's comments, he is not fond of the Dubai set-up. But 3 million, and another tournament trophy in your warehouse was worth the attempt (regarding that trophy, what is up with the size of that thing? Melt that thing down, and you'd have a set of bocci balls for everyone in your city.) My thought: Tiger would make another hole-in-one at the 16th, beer cups would shower the tee box, suffocating an unaware 80 year old volunteer, and the sonic boom from the noise of the grandstands would throw the 120 pound Howell across the 18th green into a lake.
