Natalie charges, but Annika closes with victory
Natalie Gulbis continued her strong play this year, shooting the low round 66 on Sunday in Mexico. Natalie momentarily had the lead in the clubhouse, at -6. But then, of course, Annika had yet to finish her play. Annika shot a 2-under 70 on Sunday, which was good enough to give her a -8 for the tourney and the championship. Gulbis ended up tied for fourth when it was all said and done. (Leaderboard)

That is one title defense down, 9 to go.... saw something on the LPGA web site yesterday that said this year Sorenstam will have a shot at 3-peating at Safeway, John Q Hammons and Samsung, 4-peating at McDonald's LPGA and 6-peating at Mizuno. Geez.
Annika is just at another level. I watched her in Mexico and it looked like she was not even trying. If you want a good comparison watch Annika strike an iron and see what the ball does and how close she can keep it, then watch Big Break V and see the difference. The girls on Big Break V look like a High School JV team compared to Annika. Now granted these are girls that are trying to get onto the LPGA but if this is the best of what is to come Annika will need more room in the Trophy Case that is for sure.
Anyone else notice that the LPGA needs some better representation out of the United States? Three tourneys and no Americans have won yet. Natalie, Morgan, Paula and Kerr need to step up quick. I'm sure the lpga would love to market an American to the American public but when Natalie, who has to be considered the tours hottest player (I mean that in Marketing Terms), has not won a single lpga event it makes it hard on the Marketing Department. Speaking of Natalie she is defiantly teetering on the Anna Kournikova Syndrome at this point. She might go down as the most talked about women's golfer not to ever win anything; that is as soon as Wie does.
