Question of the Day: Whose short game would you want - Phil's or Tiger's?

They are both magicians around the green, but if you had to pick, whose short game would you want for your own game -- Phil's or Tiger's? Don't include putting in your answer, just the entire short game arsenal outside of any putting.

You stole this question from The Golf Channel last night. As they said, "Tiger comes through when he HAS to. Phil comes through when he WANTS to."

Tricky shots aren't execution. At their level, they are just expected to execute. You tell me whose record is better.

Tiger eats Phil for lunch.

It's all about the flat stick...so I'm going with Tiger.

One way to look at the situation is to look at their respective scrambling and sand save stats: Phil leads slightly in scrambling, Tiger leads in sand saves. This is true whether you look at career or current year.
But as Tim said, and as said in the conversation regarding this last night on the Golf Channel, Tiger does it when he needs to. Phil has made miraculous shots, but he has also hit some of the dumbest shots.
I think another great way to look at it is to look at who can save par, despite the trouble they get into. Even Nicklaus has said that there is no active player around who he would depend on more than Tiger to figure out a way to save par, especially in a crucial situation. Everyone has seen him do it, and while the first few times you may have applied it to dumb luck, you have to succumb to the saying, "the better the player is, the luckier they get."

Hate to dump on Phil. He's answered every critic now with 3 majors. Still, though, nothing's changed in this regard. I want Phil's short game Thursday afternoon at the BellSouth Classic, but I want Tiger's short game Sunday afternoon at Augusta.

I'd have to go with Phil. More raw talent.

I believe Phil has more raw talent than most players on the Tour. However, Tiger's technique in the short game--pitching, chipping and putting is perfect. He is consistently better than anyone when a shot has to be made and he never gives up. Tiger's full swing under Hank Haney though is significantly worse than before.

Is it true Tiger's been using training aids to improve his golf game? My brother told me he uses a golf bracelet, and if he does use one, is it worth it?

Tiger, no question.
