The Wie report: all abuzz in Canoe Brook
We won't be saying too much until her round is officially over (no jinx). Suffice it to say, there's quite a buzz in Canoe Brook as Michelle tries to make history in qualifying for the U.S. Open.
More from AP here.
In progress scorecard from TGC here.
UPDATE: Michelle has 7 holes left. If you're having trouble accessing TGC's scoring, SI has one up here.
UPDATE, 6:20: Michelle's bid to qualify drew so many fans to Canoe Brook C.C., the organizers decided to limit attendance and not admit anyone until someone else left. More from SI. This is not media created buzz, this is fan created buzz. "I think it's a good thing for girls to see that they can do the same thing as the guys," said 12-year-old Julia Lista of Rumson.

Let me be the first to say that this kid gave it one hell of a run. I'm patently against the USGA givign her an exemption for the Women's US Open (sorry, you gotta qualify), but if she pulled this off it would've been one of the greatest moments in golf history.
Of course, she's now 1 over with 2 to play, so it looks unlikely. Nonetheless...she did a great job and shoudl certainly be proud over herself. THIS is was the USGA should be about.
