Wie isn't just the biggest attraction in golf; she was also tough enough and long enough off the tee to outplay 81 men in a recent U.S. Open qualifier, including a few who have been on a Masters leaderboard (Len Mattiace, James Driscoll and Ricky Barnes). Wie finished one shot behind Mark O'Meara, former Masters and British Open winner. She finished three shots ahead of her playing partner, David Gossett, the former U.S. Amateur champ who once won ... drumroll, please ... the John Deere Classic.

You make a legitimate point about this guy, but Michelle Wie the biggest attraction in golf???? That's flat-out not true and it's false by a mile. There's no way that Michelle Wie (or anyone on the LPGA or Champions tours) are close to the biggest draws in the sport. How about Tiger Woods? Phil Mickelson? John Daly? Those three are easily much bigger draws than Michelle Wie. I think you can find many others as well.
Actually, in a recent survey, Michelle Wie placed well ahead of John Daly, Vijay Singh, and Phil Mickelson. Tiger beat her, though.
Even Tiger woods admits that Michelle is a force to be reckoned with. To those who say the she belongs in LPGA, perhaps those men she beat during the Open qualifier also belong in LPGA? To say that she is not ready for PGA is like saying that education in maturity was not one of your priorities in life. Perhaps people would think she belongs in PGA is her complexion had been albino and hair a blonde. Paula Creamer who loves to have a record like Michelle is never bashed by the press. Why is that? Why is Annika Sorenstam so popular among press? After all she is an international player. What was the biggest endorsement contract she ever received? Not 10 million from Nike. Perhaps steroids testing in LPGA? Let's see who turns positive.
Muligan, this is your worst blog in quite some time, and the responses (particularly the last one), are the worst comments in quite some time as well. How can your opinion be valid if you can't even put together a single coherent sentence?
I just went and polled 7 people in my office if they knew who Michelle Wie is; only two people knew. One said, "Is she our new material handler?" One that knew her asked, "She's the really cute golfer, right?" Of course, they all knew who Tiger Woods is.
This is like that equally ridiculous AP writer who said that Wie has a more prestigious career so far than Woods at 16! Give it up guys! Your not going to be dating her anytime soon, so just stop making things up to impress her!

Michelle Wie has CLEARLY been the biggest topic on our blog (Digital GolfBlogger), and she, with Mickelson and Woods, are the only golfers that "move the needle", in TV terms.
In What If Michelle Wie Was Named Michael Instead?, my point is that Wie suffers from jealousy because she is a woman. Wie HAS had more success on the PGA Tour than Tiger Woods at the same age (Tiger never get close to making a cut at that age, partly because he didn't try).
Wie makes some people who don't care about golf stop and watch. You just can't deny her talent, and reach.
