Tiger + Faldo kiss and make up

Tiger Woods and Nick Faldo shook hands yesterday. And today they were practicing side by side on the driving range, although Faldo refrained from analyzing Tiger's swing.

About 30 minutes until they tee off.

What is the big controversy with this? Faldo is paid to be an analyst. In offering criticism of Tiger's swing, is he not doing his job? Why should this cause a stir? I doubt it really means anything to Tiger because he's so focused on playing his own game, but if he is bothered, then he needs to grow up and act like a man. I'm giving Tiget the benefit of the doubt though because I think he actually appreciates the criticism because he wants to be the best player the game has ever known.

Faldo has the resume to be able to say pretty much whatever he wants. This is a man who for about a decade was arguably (and I say there's little room for argument) the best player in the world. He was also the greatest Ryder Cup player, probably ever. Think back to just how good and intimidating Faldo was in his prime. He certainly was a finer player in the Ryder Cup than Tiger has been to this point. Moreover, he went through a radical swing change in his career and was roundly criticized for it. So when he criticizes Tiger's swing changes, I think he knows what he's talking about.

I agree with you 100%. But, as best I can tell, Tiger (either himself or someone in his camp) let it be known that Tiger was none too happy about Faldo's comment on the 72nd hole of the 2005 Buick Championship, which Tiger won. Since then, the two haven't even spoken (even though ABC has covered many tournaments).

I saw a replay of that hole yesterday. Tiger basically mishit his approach shot about 15 yards short of the green.

Faldo commented, "What was that?! ... A complete fan." Faldo then apparently dissected Tiger's swing in slow mo, although I didn't get a chance to see that on the replay.

I don't understand why Tiger would be so upset about the comments because it was a clearly a mishit. Also, who in Tiger's camp is paying attention to what commentators say so much and feeding Tiger this information? Because Tiger obviously couldn't have heard Faldo's comments live?

In my opinion it's in the past so it should be left in the past. The pres likes to blow everything up out of proportion. It's time to forget about it and play golf.
