Who is playing better after U.S. Open: Phil or Tiger?
At the Cialis Western Open, Phil Mickelson tied for 65th, at +3, while Tiger tied for second, at -11. Tiger had three rounds in the 60s, while Phil had three rounds in the 70s. Could this mark the shift back to Tiger after Phil's brief run at the majors? Is Phil still feeling the side effects of self destructing at the U.S. Open, where he played the final hole like "such an idiot"?
Hats off to Trevor Immelman for his first win at a PGA event.

Tiger is playing better, he beat Mickelson by 14 shots. Mickelson can claim he was only preparing for the British open all he wants, but i guarantee he wasnt claiming that after the first day. Tiger is a better player, overall, and will remain better for many years to come. Out of the 20 players who were anywhere near the lead yesterday, Tiger woods is the only one who made a run to place second. He always does. he is the best.
Why do we keep having this discussion? Woods is one (if not the best) golfer ever....Phil is simply one of Tiger's better comtemporary's. Not only does Tiger own 10 majors, he owns the scoring records at three of them. Discussion over!
I think Phil is playing just as good as Tiger with 2 of the last 3 majors and a short game that is 20% better than any other player on the PGA. What Tiger has that Phil doesn't have (actually what no one else has) is confidence on Sunday's in majors. The main difference between Tiger and everyone else is he can visualize himself hitting the right shot that wins him the tournament. Everyone else seems to be saying a little prayer to themselves, "Please God, don't let me mess this one up." Sorry, not even God is going to help you if you can't visualize yourself hitting the shots that will win you the tournament. Tiger wants that pressure, he thrives on it, and that my friends why he is the best player in the world. There simply is no other substantial reason.
Phil certainly does not have a better short game than Tiger. Please don't take my word for it, Johnny Miller says Tiger's short game is the best in the world. In fact, Mickelson is not regarded as having one of top 5 short games. People in the top 5 don't hit that horrible plugged-lie bunker shot he played on 18 at the Open.
