And this is relevant in what way? I think the "Golf" Blog has officially become a tabloid rather than a discussion of golf.
Sure its relevant... its news relating to the golf world that I thought was mildly interesting.
I think it's a cool item, and certainly relevant ... if Sergio goes on to be Greg's son-in-law, we'd have a great story!

I think the problem is that this is a blog, not an e-zine. A blog is for relevant discussions, expanding knowledge, sharing experiences, etc. The news item, though interesting, isn't relevant to the format. Any good forum admin would scream "keep to topic!" (The topic being golf, not dating.)
I'm not much for gossipy backstories or celebrity watching like that. However, this could make a good discussion for the blog: "What is proper and relevant media coverage?" "Has media golf grown beyond the game to encompass the intimate lives of the players?" "Is that what fans want? Is that what will grow the game...or where the game is growing?" "Are turning professional golf into 'The Truman show'?"
dudes, ESPN reported this on SportsCenter last night. This is certainly news relevant to the sports world. Last time I checked no professional golf tournament is played on Wednesdays.
Is it relevant to a blog, when I can get it on ESPN?
Or does this blog just echo any-old headlines for discussion?

hi there. i think a blog is just a blog. there shouldn't be any great expectations. like a newspaper, you're at the mercy of the writers...it's just that blogs don't have the corporate and commercial control that newspaper's suffer from. if anything, it breaks up the serious tone of analyzing the ryder cup or discussing lie angles. It's like comic relief...maybe we can call it blog relief...I'd say that forums are great places to get into the nitty gritty and blogs are somewhere in between. don't forget, we all choose what we read and what we don't read. just my honest opinion.
