2007 Samsung World Championship begins today
A commenter once asked us why we cover the LPGA. We do because we like covering the women, sometimes even more than the men. This week is a case in point. Twenty of the top LPGA pros will be teeing it up at the Bighorn Golf Club. All of the pairings are strong, but the last 4 are amazing! My guess is that Michelle Wie will get the most fan following, but that's pure speculation.
Pairings
Sherri Steinhauer, Jeong Jang
Stacy Prammanasudh, Meena Lee
Mi Hyun Kim, Gwladys Nocera
Hee-Won Han, Seon-Hwa Lee
Juli Inkster, Pat Hurst
Brittany Lincicome, Sophie Gustafson
Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis
Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie
Se Ri Pak, Karrie Webb
Annika Sorenstam, Lorena Ochoa

ZZZZZZZZZZZ. You may be one of 15 people watching the LPGA this weekend. If the men's tour is boring, then the LPGA is infinitely worse. Maybe if the focus was on Natalie Gulbis I could watch, but unfortunately the coverage will follow the over-hyped and under-performing Michelle Wie.
Personally I can't take another Michelle Wie event, but at least she can't miss another cut this weekend! She'll have at least 4 rounds before she decides that her poor play is the fault of yet another caddie. Keep up the good work Michelle.
I agree with you, mulligan. The last four pairings ARE great. Paula & Nat....beauty; Cristie & Michelle....let's watch MW's looper; Se Ri & Karrie....simply strong golf; and then Annika vs Lorena....this is a preview of the distaff version of The Bear trying to hold off The Tiger.
It should be fun to watch!
If you find women's golf boring, and posts about the same boring as well, here's a clue: don't read those posts!
Personally, I can't wait to see Michelle. I for one (among many, it seems) can't seem to get enough of her.
Yountommorris has a point. To begin, Ms. Gulbis is exponentially more attractive then Ms. Wie. Moreoever, like Tiger Woods, Ms. Wie has a myriad of excuses and "shoulda hads" that supposedly prevent her from playing to her over-hyped potential. Sure, every player at that level has the potential to shoot a good round, but Ms. Wie's strained logic and sub-par (no pun intended) play are growing old. Its time to realize that while she is good, she simply isn't what people thought - and never will be.

Not sure I would say "exponentially" but then neither Gulbis or Wie would make my top three in an LPGA contest based on looks.

Not sure how you could possible use the words "excuses", "shoulda hads" or "over-hyped" in the same sentence as "Tiger Woods".

She is good, in fact she is very good. I have yet to see any Tiger-esque clutch shotmaking, maybe it will come in time although personally I think that is something you either have or do not. I am just not anywhere near ready to give up on her just yet. Do I think she will ever play the PGA tour on a regular basis, no. Do I think she could dominate the LPGA tour, maybe, do I think she will, do not know.
Andrewsmad mad and I are on the same book, and that is nice to see. Although I believe a congratulations is a little much, it is reassuring to know that other people are willing to take the chance and say things that cut across the grain. I believe andrewsmad and I are both well read, and although we might be the most unpopular folks posting on this site, I admire his courage. I congratulate you too, andrewsmad, for sticking to your guns (even if they happen to coincide with mine). RITELYKEATDAIRE.

Wie should have given up her exemption. she is a waste. Sorenstram is a class act - Wie NOT!
Yeesh, Sorenstam declined the invite--where have you been?
