Kelly Tilghman becomes first woman lead golf announcer
If you haven't heard, The Golf Channel will be taking over all pre-weekend coverage of the PGA in 2007. That's 43 events, if you are counting.
This week, The Golf Channel announced that Kelly Tilghman will be the lead play-by-play commentator in the booth, making her the first woman in that position. She will have Nick Faldo to provide the golf analysis. Tilghman played college golf at Duke. She went on to play a few years of pro golf in Australia, Europe and Asia, although she now lists her handicap as a 6. Kelly knows her golf and should have no problem in handling Faldo's cheeky banter.

great decision. long live kelly - she is smart, hot, she has game and she can wing it with the guys (i loved watching her manage that wacko from big break I - steve dumai or whatever his name is). i just hope they keep kraig kahn out of the mix - gangus kahn should go the way of kessler - can't you just hear kraig saying Perfect club ... it's purrrrrfect.... it's purrrrrrfect...purrrrrrrrfect.
Watched the Golf Channel today. The announcer, Kelly, did a superb job, crisp voice, excellent knowledge. No mention of her on the Golf Channel website, however. Why?
get Jim Nance off and put Kelly with Nick on USA.
