Annika eliminated

Not a good year for Annika Sorenstam. Even with the one major, her play has been inconsistent. Today, she didn't even make the cut to play in the second round of the year end playoff in the ADT Championship. The reign may be over.

Should have read "Not a good year by Annika Sorenstam's standards".

1 major, 2 other LPGA wins, 3 other world wide wins, 11 top 5s, 15 top 10s. While I, like most, were expecting better, 99% of the LPGA players would have loved to have that kind of year.

I am sure there are many reasons for Annika inconsistent play ... Watching her on TV she often appears to be distracted

Ignoring Annika's absence, the final 8 looks like everything the LPGA could have hoped for. The money leaders Webb & Lorena in there fighting it out, Gulbis hoping for her first win, young Creamer making a great birdie on 18 to ensure her spot. I could add my opinion of the format, but how Sunday has shapen up nullifies any complaints.
On a side note, does anyone know the deal behind Gogel announcing retirement after the 2007 AT&T? His game has obviously gone South, but is there any real reason a 35 year old would choose to leave professional golf. Perhaps he no longer feels he can play competitively.

Gogel made little over $100k last year with expenses probably well exceeding that amount. If Ian Baker Finch can retire after the run he had, Matt Gogel can as well.
