Buckle buckles, Tiger rolls to victory No. 7 at Buick
Tiger Woods, well, what can you say about the guy? Unstoppable. Andrew Buckle had a 2-stroke lead at the start of the back nine, but Buckle buckled under the pressure, as probably most spectators expected. Charles Howell III put on a valiant charge, but Chuck could not match Tiger. Who can?
Win No. 55, 3 times in a row at Torrey Pines, and 7 in a row on the PGA tour. The PGA season just started for Tiger, but it seems like it's all but over for the rest of the players.

The guy is certainly incredible, but he is human. Although I love watching Tiger play, I would like to see someone challenge him and create a bit of a rivalry. Phil's given it a whirl, but nothing seems to stick. Maybe this year, then again, maybe not.
The "rivalry" is there. It's with Roger Federer, and who is the greatest athlete of this era.
Well, we'll see Tiger at the majors (except if his wife gives birth near the British), the Buick and DuetcheBank sponsored events. I'm betting 17 events max this year. Should result in about 9 wins with, maybe, 2 majors.
I'm starting to get sick hearing about this "streak" that Tiger's on. He failed to win a PGA-sanctioned event, the American Express in the UK, so there is no streak. Byron Nelson's streak is safe. That isn't meant to take anything away from Tiger, and even he admits that he isn't going for 12 in a row, but why do we need to hear about a non-existent streak?
Yeah, maybe it's not really a streak, but it's still impressive whatever it is.
Tiger Woods did win the American Express Championship in London at the end of Sept/beginning of Oct. He led pretty much from the get-go, beating Ian Poulter in second place with a few shots to spare.
It's true that a couple of weeks earlier Woods had got knocked out in the 1st round of the World Matchplay Event at Wentworth, England. But that was not a PGA-sanctioned event (although it is sanctioned by the European Tour).
Roger F is a great tennis player and deserved to be compared to some of the greatest tenneis players of all time, but Tiger is on his own level in his sport. No one has accomplished in golf what Tiger has accomplished. There are only a few records now that he doesn't own and those are long term career records that he is within conceivable striking distance of, barring a major slump or injury. What Federer is doing in tennis has been done many times before, in fact, it is almost the norm that a single player completely dominates the sport over a five year period.
Yeah, what anonymous at 7:02 said, and what joel said. What Tiger has done has never been done, what Roger has done has been done.
What I am sick of hearing about is the f-ing FedEx Cup. Just STFU!
I was mistaken about Tiger winning the American Express tournament in the UK last fall. So he does a PGA Tour streak going, but it still wouldn't equal Byron Nelson because Nelson, I think, won 11 tournaments in a row. Not 11 that he played in despite weeks off in between, and not just PGA Tour events, but simply 11 in a row. What Tiger's doing is very impressive, but let's not get ahead of ourselves yet.
Yeah and Byron was playing against old guys and players who didn't get drafted for the war due to medical deferments...so what's your point?
My point genius is that Tiger really isn't on a streak, unless you count 1 as being a streak.
I suppose if he had won all the inbetween tournaments and the Buick ended up being his 11th in a row, then you would say he hasn't broken Nelson's streak because he didn't win 11 PGA Tour events in a row. What has the guy got to do, win 22 in row to satisfy you? Can somebody tell me if Palmer, Nelson, Trevino, Player, Watson or Norman ever even won back to back tournaments, much less 3 in a row? I doubt it. Tiger's a total freak of nature. Should just change his name to "Money".
Good point. In fact, rumor has it that he's debating between the names "Money" and "Ace" for his kid if it happens to be a boy.
Wow, Young Tom, ya certainly are a pure mad dafty ain't ya??
