Did Tiger really choke?
A commenter wrote in suggesting that Tiger choked yesterday in his loss to Nick O'Hern. I didn't see the match, so I don't know if that's true. For those who saw it, can you confirm this?
Regardless, Nick O'Hern deserves his props. He's beaten Tiger twice in match play and has NEVER trailed against Tiger, ever. (SI reports)

He was off the whole day, with several amazing shots in between. The putt he missed was because of a ball-mark, he says. Maybe, maybe not. But he was human yesterday, not himself. Poor Kelly Tillman, it broke her heart.
The putt Tiger missed, 3 - 4 feet, was not well captured by any camera I've seen. Certainly impossible for the viewer to make any conclusion that includes an untended "ball mark".
Nonetheless, the putt never touched the hole. From the angle we saw it, it looked like a push all the way.
Choke? No. It was for the win and a very unusual Tiger moment.
The putt on the 19th was certainly questionable, but the iron into the bunker on the 20th was worse.
I was there and it was very cold. I think that Tiger lost his concentration.
I have never seen Tiger play like he did yesterday. It was a day of some of his worst shots and best shots. Very unusual.
I think there is only one American left in the field. Is it any wonder we cannot win a Ryder Cup?

Ryder Cup?
Remember, Yanks. Nothing matters but the Majors...right?
The Euros always make me laugh with their constant Ryder Cup gloating (see jackass above). Guess when you're 0 for the century in majors you have to cling to something...LOL.
1) I was not the one who brought up the Ryder Cup.(see above)
2) Americans were the ones who claimed (after they lost) that the Ryder Cup meant nothing, and that only the Majors were significant.
3) My country is not allowed to challenge for the Ryder Cup. If we were, we'd beat you, too.
4) The century is only beginning, laddie or Lassie - but I bet you swing like a girl.
i don't think tiger choked. honestly, i think his swing failed him as it will continue to from time to time.
i'd be curious to hear some more thoughts here on his swing. sure he's the best player in the world - will be for a while. but he'll never be able to play consistently under pressure and we won't see him play courses like riviera where he has to be in the fairway consistently.
i don't by the whole "just look at the results" argument on this but that is a discussion best left to a more relevant thread.
It's golf, guys. Any guy on the Hooters tour could beat Tiger on any given day, or over any given four days for that matter. Choking has nothing to do with it. Hey, don't forget he blew a two shot lead with two holes to play on Sunday at the Masters a few years ago too. What's amazing is not that he lost, but that we're even having consversation that he is somehow unbeatable in an 18 hole match play event or never misses a crucial shot.
"Ryder Cup?

Don't ask us, ask Nick Faldo! Why is is that every time Faldo refers to his "great accomplishments" is always, "Six majors" and ZERO reference to his 20 some Ryder Cup wins?
Or how about Monty? The guy can't loose at the Ryder Cup. Gee, I don't remember just now.....is he considered a great golfer? Think he's bound for the Hall of Fame do ya?
Then there's your young great Sergio. How's he doing? Maybe he'll wear all green including his shoes at the Masters, and choke every put on the back nine like he did at the British.....oh no, excuse me "The Open Championship".
I feel bad for you that only Americans, South Africans and Australians can win majors. Maybe if your guys spent a few years on the world's 2nd best tour (The Nationwide Tour) you could win a tournament that matters.
The Ryder Cup was probably pretty cool back in the day when English and American golf existed in different worlds and there was a legitimate argument about who "owned" golf. In our era America clearly owns golf (along with pretty much everything else that once belonged to the British). So what's the big deal? I think the annual Tavistock Cup matches down in Orlando every year are more compelling.
Calygolfing...I doubt you could spell Zimbabwe or even find New Zealand on a map. How could you be expected to appreciate the finer points of "our"(not "your") game.
Tiger choked. I've watched him zillions of times for years, and never seen anything like it. A short gimme. O'Hern told his caddy, "Mate, he never misses these."
I was flabbergasted.
Sure, he wasn't playing great golf. But to miss a 3 footer to win -- just ... I mean, I could have made it. It was, BY FAR, the worst thing I've ever seen from Tiger, and about as bad as I've seen on the PGA. (And he didn't hit his 2nd to the bunker on the 20th -- he was in the greenside rough, good lie, pin high, and couldn't get up and down; O'Hern did from the bunker, though.)
"but I bet you swing like a girl"
Given that my handicap is 2 and I average about 290 off the box, what "girl" do I swing like?
Stacy Prammanasudh??
It's reported on Tiger's site that he's attributed missing the three footer to a drunken (presumably) member of the gallery shouting "Noonan" just as he took back the blade.
Anyone hear anything about this?
