Annika blasts Michelle Wie
Q. A lot of people were talking about what happened with Michelle. A lot of people were very concerned about what happened; I wonder if you had any reaction to what she did, the way she did it, and I wonder how some of the players you've talked to felt about it as well.
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: I haven't really talked to any other players. But you know, I just feel that there's a little bit of lack of respect and class just to kind of leave a tournament like that and then come out and practice here, especially being the hostess. You know, I don't know the situation, if it's injury or whatever it is. It's just it just seemed really weird.
Q. Will you talk to her about it?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: I'm not really sure. I haven't heard anything from her, anyway. It's not really something that I was planning on doing, but if she would talk to me, I'd definitely talk to her.
Q. Would you have felt that way if she had not come out here and practiced?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: Absolutely. I know what it's like to be injured. I mean, when I was injured, I wasn't able to touch golf clubs for weeks. It's a little funny that you pull out with an injury and then you start grinding. My doctor told me to rest.
Q. So it sounds like you have similar suspicions to a bunch of people who think that the 88 was a factor into that decision?
ANNIKA SORENSTAM: I have no idea what it is, but I know that being a hostess of an event and when you get a sponsor invite, I think you have some responsibilities to the sponsor, to the organizer, and I can tell you that from being part of it now, it's a different side from that aspect.

My only complaint about Annika's comment.... "there's a little bit of lack of respect" should have deleted the words "little bit of".
To me it sounds like a lot of sour grapes. I think Sorenstam is having a little trouble sharing the limelight with the young phenom, Michelle Wie.
Why do you think some of the 'short haired gals' dislike Michelle so much?
Please, Ross...so you're yet another Wie apologist? When this over indulged, spoiled little Paris Hilton of golf quits whining and making excuses, perhaps she'll get some respect. She's not only over rated, she's become irrelevant as well. The fact that Bubbles was seen practicing the next day after her obviously "severe" injury is an insult to not only Sorenstam but to the LPGA and golfers everywhere who value the integrity of the sport. She's a freakin joke.

Sorenstam's straight you moron.
I'm surprised that Michelle Wie's agent and handlers did not counsel her to be a) gracious and b) polite toward the hostess of the Ginn tournament and the public. I saw bits of Michelle Wie's behaviors during the press conference and her conduct have actually changed my opinions about her to the negative. She came across as an oversized spoiled 17-year old, not the poised and polite teenager in the earlier years.
It is unfortunate that her domineering and micromanaging father and mother can't seem to grasp the child-raising concepts along with handling a gifted child. BJ Wie comes across as arrogant, stubborn and obviously greedy from his interviews.
BJ (what an apt name) Wie is already in the Hall of Shame for stage parents and will most likely be enshrined as the biggest jackass of them all when all's said and done.
Wie has no manners at all..
well, well...
"Wie’s last week may have been among the most controversial in the history of the LPGA Tour — a place not exactly known for wild antics. The latest craziness happened Tuesday when her ever-present father, B.J., got into a shouting match with LPGA commissioner Carolyn Bivens after he had been thrown off the practice range by an LPGA rules official. (Only a player’s caddy and coach can accompany her to the range or the putting green).
B.J. Wie didn’t like the fact Bivens is finally making him play by the same rules as everyone else. Enough of the Wie-too-much Entourage. Too bad Bivens didn’t have this conversation when Wie first came out on tour".
These people are shameless.
A few good panties-down swats over someone's knee would do the little brat wonders!
It always amazes me how some people can still find excuses for Ms Wie. Here is a 'girl' that cant hold her own with the ladies, yet wants to play with the men...cant finish a tournament because she is 'so injured' that she cant finish the round, yet hits pails of balls the very next morning... Give me a break...when is enough going to be enough, and when is the LPGA going to say to her.."Either follow the rules, or you dont play!" If this were anyone else but Michelle Wie, she would of been sitting on the pines..sitting out the year like they did with the other two ladies this past year. Shame to have two sets of rules, one for Wie, and one for the other 'true' competitors....

are you clueless???
What young phenom are you talking about because if you're referring to Michelle then you're an idiot. What has Wie done since she's turned pro? Yah good one, absolutely nothing!! You fucking idiot
I think Annika's comments show a lack of professionalism. It’s sad to see the ladies tour treat a potential superstar this way and it only makes the sport look bad. When a phenom on the men’s tour starts out, you see a much better welcome by their fellow pros. Arnold Palmer took Nicklaus under his wing and Nicklaus, in turn, put out an open offer to help Tiger Woods. You see willingness to mentor on the men’s tour time and time again. It’s unfortunate that nobody is extending Michelle Wie this courtesy. They seem to wait for her to make a mistake and then all jump on it.

READ the facts of the previous posts. Michelle and her idiot father have no respect for the LPGA and its players. Idiot dad has been pushing her on the mens tour for how many years??? He has already ruined what would have been the most dominate woman in golf. We are talking about a teenage girl being pushed into the mens tour where the courses, her lack of confidence, lack of experience, and lack of mental toughness have quickly destroyed her...I didn't even mention the competition.
This girl quite possibly could have successfully competed against the men at some point.....she should have been allowed to kick some serious LPGA ass for a few years first.
At this point, she is mentally crushed, regardless of what she and her dad say. Pulling the "injury" card out of her bag will be the norm. Until she dumps her father, coaches, trainers, etc and surrounds herself with people who truely know how to develope a young talent, Michelle will be nothing more than a mid pack "grinder" on the LPGA tour...stick a fork in this poor girl..she's done. What a shame
At least you agree that she is not getting the right advice from her father, coaches, etc. That's why I think a player from the ladies tour should try to befriend Michelle and give her some guidance/mentorship. Maybe give her the support to drop some of the negative influences in her life.
Why should they do this? Aside from it being a nice thing to do, Michelle Wie is a huge draw and a possible superstar in the making. Everyone on the ladies tour will benefit if interest in ladies golf grows. This translates into the purses they play for. All the PGA tour players can thank Tiger for the extra millions of dollars in their pockets. Michelle Wie could do the same for the LPGA.
Wie Is not a fenom She has never won a tournament not even in the jouniors. She is nothing but a spoiled brat
I am seriously discouraged to buy any Nike products because of Michelle Wie.
I hate athletes like her, if it wasn't for their big mouths, and agents and publicists, they wouldn't even be noticed.
Why should I pay the prices Nike wants to charge, when they can afford to give multi million dollar endorsements to mediocre athletes, like Wie.
I just read she shot an 80, and got a 9 on a par 4 in her last qualifier.
Well I can shoot an 80, hey Nike why not endorse me.
