Natalie Gulbis reports from the Solheim Cup in Sweden

Hard to believe the fine people at the LPGA decided to put the Solheim Cup during the same week as the PGA's FedEx Cup finale. But, hey, who needs viewers? Anyway, Natalie Gulbis has a post on her blog describing the free goodies she just received.

"The rooms have been the highlight of the day! They are decorated with Solheim red, white, and blue everywhere! It's amazing! There are flags everywhere. Balloons, American flag blankets, our new Solheim bag and accessories. Then the clothes - there are so many cute outfits. It's chilly here so the staff equipped us with hand warmer gloves and heat packs. The Solheim family gave us a new video ipod and bose headphones. I needed an ipod and was looking to purchase another one so I am thrilled.

"Canon was gracious to give every player a Canon Snapshot. We will all take pictures throughout the week and the LPGA staff will download them to the LPGA website. Make sure everyone checks those out.

"We have a fun easy reception tonight and team dinner so I am off to join my team."

hi; thanks for your inside look. But wasn't it the "fine folks" at FedEx who were second in picking this weekend? I would have thought the Solheim Cup date was set a year or so ago! I'll be watching (both) ... go get 'em cowboy (cowgirls, if we are PC)

The Solheim Cup was way more exciting than the FedUp Cup today. Natalie, you're the best!

I have never seen such a poor job of producing on a golf tournament. Missed angles, ball flight and puts, poorly selected camera shots of the action in general galore. The incredable audio tracking rips and then staying on the air while an announcer trashes the players (or the coverage?) "un freeking believable choking". Golf Channel had better grow up in a hurry. So they can't afford to be HD but from a product standpoint they can do much better at providing a quality performance. I like the announcers but even they should know better when to keep their mouth shut incase they are still on-air. To top it off she said the US lost a point in the morning and had to correct herself later. What a mess.

Did anyone hear Dottie Pepper's comment this morning (she clearly thought she was off the air) when, after the USA had missed a series of crucial short putts, she said "choking, freaking dogs" (at least that's what I heard)? If the GolfChannel replays the morning rounds, this would happen close to the end of the broadcast.

Yup, I did hear Dottie Pepper's almost-off-air comment. They should let her do all her commentary that way!
