Will Tiger Woods win Fed Ex Cup (or by how many strokes)?
Is the FedEx Cup now effectively over after Tiger Woods shot an amazing 28 on the front nine yesterday, carding a 63 to pull a 3 shot lead? Personally, I think the scoring system is all screwed up. The finale tourney should pit the top 30 starting all even, with no carryover of points.
As fate would have it, Tiger will be paired with respectable journeyman Woody Austin, who gave Tiger a good run at the final day of the PGA (even beating him on the final day, something that Austin repeatedly said during this press conference). Austin said that Tiger can be beat but you have to be playing well to do so.
The media guys are all wondering whether Woody will be Sabbatinied by Tiger today? What's your take?

I wasn't that impressed with Woody Austin's press conference after the PGA. He sounded to me like someone with a chip on his shoulder and desperately seeking attention.
Well, he'll get the attention today. Best of luck to him, but if he has a bad day, I don't want to hear him complain that the gallery is a distraction or an unfair disadvantage because this is what he's been craving all these years.

Grenamier: Austin is "desperately seeking attention"? He was at a press conference!!! That's where they make you go after your round, esp. if you've played well and are seriously in contention, ergo, your comments are deemed "of interest", otherwise they don't even bother nudging you into making controversial remarks. The people who were desperate were the sports "journalists" who were desperate for a quote or a sound bite to ignite some bogus feud. Which you totally fell for. Get off Woody's back. He's a 44 year old lifer whose having the best year of his career and I'm sure he's probably nursed more than a few resentments along the way. I love that he's strutting his stuff right now. He's a world class ball striker who deserves every inch of limelight he's finally getting. Who cares what you want to hear. Guess what? I don't want to hear Kelly Tilghman bang on about Tiger's 29 on the front nine yesterday like it was biblical or something meanwhile, combined with the back nine, it still didn't add up to Tim Clark's 62. But that didn't stop her from barely mentioning it. Her fawning coverage of Tiger is embarrassing and she should stop. Zach Johnson had to shoot a 60 today in order to get any attention at all.
Oh, and no, I don't think Tiger will win. I think someone else will have a Zach Johnson-like round tomorrow for the tournament and eclipse him. But he'll still win the FedUp Cup, unless the eclipser is Mickelson, Choi, Sabbatini, or Stricker. And Tiger chokes, like, badly. Not likely.
Hmmm. Why would Tiger get more coverage than Clark or Johnson? Maybe winning 6 times in the year (while playing fewer events than anyone else)? ? Or following-up a great round with another great round *and a win*?
And someone other than Calc catching Tiger? Where have you been? Tiger has *never* lost a lead of more than 1, and after Calc, the next person is El Choko 5 back? Good lord! I'll take that bet.
Anon. 9:33: Where have I been? I've been right here on the Western Hemisphere of Planet Earth drowning in a tsunami wave of Tiger worship slobber. Even if I didn't want to know that Tiger had never lost a lead after 54 holes or whatever the statistic is, I wouldn't be able to avoid it. It would be like not knowing that Britney sucked at the MTV Awards. So, for the record, I come to this blog informed. I just don't feel compelled to spew and re-spew the regurgitation of his bona fides at every opportunity. It's like watching a dog eat its own vomit. And as far as six-tournament-winner-Tiger getting more coverage than Tim Clark or Zack Johnson? Sure. On the whole, he would deserve it. You guys so bad, this is my first post. I am a 66 year young lady, don't play golf, but became a golf fan about 8 years ago. I am looking at the last few post, O.K. me a T.W. fan(heck he made me golf fan) I do respect all the players, as I have learned so much about them, so what happened to continters in round 3, Phil.M.#3 -6, Steve Stricker#2 -3, and he did a great job,K.J.Chow #5 -3, that surprised me, heck V.J. Singh did the best of all the abouve#9 -9 he has been doing so bad. I don't think the press left out what Z. Johnson did today, WOW. But I think the biggest news is is the the last round players playing with today Tiger was Woody #17, then tomorrow final day M.Calcavecchic #18, so what happened to all the other top players??

The point of golf is to win. Other than Tiger, only KJ has won more than once this year with a full field.
Real golf fans appreciate that we are lucky enough to be watching the person who will probably go down as the greatest golfer of all time.
A player is only as great as his competition. So in order for Tiger's legacy to be that of "the greatest golfer of all time" maybe it wouldn't hurt to acknowledge the record-breaking accomplishments of his competitors from time to time.

You had that bet all by yourself, whoever you are. Even I said someone eclipsing Tiger would only happen if someone had a Johnson-like round in tandem with Tiger choking which I pointed out was NOT LIKELY. So if Tiger humiliated everyone today does that mean he was humiliated when Johnson shot a 60 or when T. Clark shot a 62? Of course not. It's too bad Tiger's fans aren't as gracious and cool as Tiger himself. Why don't you try emulating your idol and his flawless sportsmanlike behavior and generosity toward his competitors (sticking up for Austin) instead of gleefully using words like "humiliate" to denigrate his colleagues on his behalf.
