Sure it can. She can fail to break 80 in her final round. She actually did improve by 2 strokes in the 3rd round, so she's still 3 strokes better than an 80!
Seriously, this should be her last tournament until she consistently breaks 70 in her practice rounds. The Wie camp's heads are made of indestructible steel or titanium or something.
Well, she didn't come in last. Next to last, but not last.
Wee little Wie has never won a 72-hole tournament. Ever. The comparisons of her to Kournikova are fairly accurate just now.
And is there a more poorly spoken pro golfer in front of the camera? You might say it is her age, but compare her to Rory McElroy for some contrast. Both are roughly the same age, but McElroy sounds like something more than a 13 year old when he speaks.
Well it has gotten worse... her agent (Greg Nared) just gave the Wies his resignation. I'm thinking Nared sensed the Good Ship Wie listing badly and decided to get off at the nearest port before.
Tiger vs. Roger - THE TRUTH - Golf and tennis have 4 majors every year. Tiger won his first major in 1997. From 1997-2007 Tiger has won 13 out of 44 majors. A wining percentage of 29.54% and he is age 31. Roger Federer won his first major in 2003. From 2003-2007 he has won 12 out of 20 majors. A wining percentage of 60% and he is age 26. Looking at these stats, who would you bet on to win more majors in 2008? It's now wonder Tiger himself and Pete Sampras called ROGER FEDERER THE MOST DOMINANT ATHLETE ON THE PLANET. You may disagree, but ask yourself this question. Do you, your golf buddy, or any sportswriter know more about being dominant in a sport than Tiger Woods or Pete Sampras? No you don't.
In other ridiculously off-topic truths today, it was highlighted that apples have a shinier and smoother surface than oranges do.
Now back to the topic at hand.
I saw the Golf Channel the news about Wie's agent Nared mentioned in the comments earlier, and in the same segment they mentioned that Wie's parents follow her everywhere on Stanford's campus 24/7. Her parents have a mental illness. I'm at a loss to describe how controlling and weird that is. There aren't any words that come close painting that picture. That girl is going to explode one day and the entire situation going to make the Sean O'Hair and Briny Baird family stories look idealistic.
I really don't know how she's made it this far without losing her mind--and the cracks are already starting to show.
If she ever gets married the parents will be out of the picture or the guy will have a well designed battle plan for the marriage and prenups, titanium onions, nerves of steel, and be a gold digger to the nth degree.
she is now old enough to account for her actions and the decisions she and her team make. she has 10 mill for god's sake - so she can push her parents out of the way and take control of her career and life --
the ball is now on michelle's fairway - it is up to her to decide what to do now -- yes she is still young but she has no other choice....
however, i do not believe this will happen -- the parents intervention is part cultural and part their not having anything else in their lives but to ride the wiezzie train -- god help the poor girl--- she is doomed

Can we all just agree on this: Michelle Wie is the Anna Kournakova of golf. She looks great, but she can't win a major.
Well, she didn't come in last. Next to last, but not last.

Well, I guess she's almost old enough now that we can legally discuss her looks. Uh, she not bad I guess, but I'm taking the tennis girl hands down.
Well it has gotten worse... her agent (Greg Nared) just gave the Wies his resignation. I'm thinking Nared sensed the Good Ship Wie listing badly and decided to get off at the nearest port before.
She is a good ameature AT BEST!! Nike affiliates themselves with prominant athletes that produce results. Wie is NOT one of these people.
This broad is not getting the message. Pack it in Wie. You are not an inspiration to anyone

Wie is like Notre Dame... a good mid-major.
