Can Tiger Woods run the table in 2008 and go undefeated?
Tiger Woods got past a huge hurdle in his quest for perfection in 2008. Today, he routed Stewart Cink, 8 and 7, in the 36-hole finale to the World Match Play Championship. Match play is more volatile than stroke play, so Tiger winning this championship has set him up to run the table in 2008. JB Holmes had Tiger 3 down with 5 to go in the 1st match, and in the quarterfinal Aaron Baddeley had a chance to put Tiger away with at least 2 very makeable birdie putts. Of course, Tiger escaped both rounds with a victory.
Tiger has now won 6 tourneys in a row dating back to last year. He has won all 3 tourneys he has played in 2008. He looks resolved to win every tournament this year, not just the Grand Slam.
If he does, it would be the greatest feat in golf ever.

Tiger looks primed to perform at a level this year that is unimaginable. And that could be an undefeated season for every start that he makes. It seems impossible to even think about but his game is so much better than anyone else right now.

Forget the greatest feat in golf. If he does run the table (it's impossible, so it doesn't matter) it would be the greatest feat in any sport ever. The fact that it's even being mentioned is amazing. Even Jack never brought that kind of talk with the start of his season
What are you smoking? Of course he won't run the table. But if he can win 2 majors and 10 tourneys overall, it will be, again, freakin' incredible. Three majors -- wow ^ squared. But I don't know -- his first win at Augusta, and the US Open at Pebble Beach -- will anything like that ever occur?
If there was ever proof that golfers are not athletes, I refer you to the PGA. Save for Tiger, the rest of the field are charter members of the Vienna Boys Choir. Nary a testicle to be found. Forget, if you can, the fact that Woods birdied almost one third of the holes he played last week. Everyone got weak-kneed and played far below their capabilites when faced with the prospect of playing against Woods. BJ did not play very well and failed to capitlize on the three hole cushion Eldrick gave him. Oberhozer is a bum and should dwell in that Netherland somewhere between the Nationwide Tour and the PGA. He would be a good player on the LPGA...maybe.. Badds manhood was fleeting and he lost Titleisticles for critical putts at crucial times. The same applies to Stensen. That leaves us with Cink. I am sure he has a mangina. He should seek refuge in a Tibetan monistary and wear a toga. He was pitiful and it was shameful. I am sure he wore Depends from the time he woke up that morning. I am waiting for the day when a new would-be king removes the driver from the stone and challenges this masterful beast with a full compliment inside his scrotum!
Tiger Woods's past week's performance at the WGC Match Play is a perfect example of his ability to dominate the game of golf. In Tiger's first match against JB Holmes, JB seemed to have a commanding lead through 13 holes. However, to those who know anything about Tiger, we all knew the last 5 holes were likely to be quite a show. Sure enough, Tiger rolled in over 90 feet worth of putts in a birdie and eagle binge on 14,15,16, and 17 to eventually win the match 1 up and leave Holmes able to do nothing but sit and scratch his head. Tiger's ensuing performances against Aaron Baddeley and eventually his 8 and 7 victory over Stewart Cink in the 36-hole final (which included 14 birdies in 29 holes) is a perfect portrayal of Tiger's complete domination over the game (a feat no one has been able to accomplish in any sport to date). Because of these occurrences as well as countless others, Tiger Woods is well on his way to becoming not only the greatest golfer who has ever lived, but also the greatest athlete that has ever lived. He has created an environment on the PGA Tour that has some of the world's greatest realistically playing for second week-in and week-out. His complete domination over the rest of the field time and time again shows how truly outstanding his abilities are. Since his teenage years, he has possessed the uncanny ability to produce extraordinary shots at moments when they were needed the most. This is one of the things that has set him apart from the rest who play the game. However, he has now reached a new level. He not only outlasts his competitors with his shot-making abilities, but also dominates with his preparation; simply put, he is physically and mentally light years in front of everyone else in the world. With his new swing, which seems quite flawless against his almost perfect physical being, Tiger is looking to be more and more unbeatable with every hole he plays. With all these things considered, there is no reason that Tiger can and will go undefeated. His winning streak is at 6 right now, but I have a feeling he's just getting started. His physical ability makes him primed for success and his mentality molds him into an athlete that most of us can't even grasp. So with that being said, world, watch out; we are about to see domination that the athletic world has never seen before.
Wow, wo wo there KT. To suggest that golfers are athletes is tantamount to declaring bowlers and fisherment athletes! Tiger is definitely athletic and is the greatest golfer that has every lived but please don't put golfers in the same category as football, basketball and hockey players. Golf is not nearly as multi-dimensional as real sports and besides it is Eldrick's unparalelled prowess with the flat stick that separates him from all the others. Like great individuals and teams before him, Tiger's competition is beat before the match begins. I acknowlege his greatnes but the sad reality is, it is boring as hell! What is worse is the obsession the networks and commentators have for this guy. We are supersaturated with Tiger coverage and rarely get to see the others who are all playing for second place.
