John Daly implodes
Today, John Daly (a sponsor's exemption to Arnie's tourney) was disqualified for not making his tee time, which he thought was 1 hour later. That DQ then snowballed when it made the 2 alternates Ryuji Imada and Nick O'Hern no-shows to fill in for the morning round and therefore out of the tournament.
This DQ comes a week after Butch Harmon said he doesn't want to coach JD, and after reported drinking by JD last week at Hooters. Pretty sad.

For whatever reason, Daly is a fan favorite. But enough is enough. Why does the PGA insist on taking pity on a man that refuses to help himself. The excemptions need to stop. He's non competetive when he plays and these exemptions are taking money out of the pockets and food off of the tables of hungry, talented PGA upstarts that want to be there.
Daly shows no discipline or respect for the game, or himself.
His power, feel, and talent are unquestionable....but the indisciplined nature of his lack of practice and in his lifestyle are bad for the game of gentlemen. No more.
Get him help and keep him off of the golf course until he cleans up. Part of his healing will be working his way back up the Q-school or the Nationwide Tour in order to regain his tourcard.
Sometimes I feel bad for John, sometimes no. I think it sucks how Butch Harmon didn't call him and tell him he was dropped!
John Daly is hilarious though. Even though he is self-destructive, he is more interesting than most the boring guys on tour!
Here is why people like him:

It’s amazing that a sport that is so closely tied to alcohol, both on the tour, amateurs, and on the golf network shows has a hard time when Big John partakes. Golfers need to look in the mirror and accept how they have supported this type of excessive behavior.
Hey Mark,
Are the sponsors of the PGA and the European tour really to blame or to be held responsible because one man can't seem to take responsiblity for his own life. No one else is acting like this, yet Johnnie Walker is a firm supporter of our game. Should they pull out their support of the PGA because Daly, and only Daly, lives his life in excess?
Perhaps Cadillac should withdraw it's sponsorship if someone on the PGA tour should get in frequent car accidents in one of its vehicles?
Big John doesn't partake. Big John is a lush. Many players meet at the 19th Hole, both pro and amateur....and all but one seem to meet their responsibilities the next day.
Eventually the fans will grow tired of watching JD shoot 80. Not sure when that will be, but it will happen.
Daly, powered by the hooch, is known to smack the ball further than most of his peers, leading us to conclude (though we're not doctors) that his Samson-like strength is somehow related to his copious booze intake. Correlation equals causation if you're drinking the right stuff.
The guy is a legend.

Big John's act has worn thin. I wish him the best in his personal life, but no longer care to watch the train wreck on a golf course.
