The presidents cup is great because the captains CAN choose who is playing who. and if you didnt want to see the Tiger remach against Yang you just cant be a golfer. The best player ever to walk this earth got the chance at a rematch with the only person who has ever beaten Tiger when Woods had the final round lead going into a major. And for the rest of the other matches, all the players playing were repesenting that of the best players in the world. True golf fans and low handicap players want to see the different players and styles of golf. The presidents cup is no ryder cup but there has only been 8 of them so far wheras the ryder cup has many.

You know, the President's Cup has always been a little bit more laid back and less significant compared to the Ryder Cup. So why not have some fun with the pairings for the Top Seeds face each other at some point during the 4 days.

I mean, c'mon, remember the spectacular showdown between Ernie and Tiger in the past President's Cup.

Maybe Ernie specifically requested not to play Tiger after Tiger insulted his work ethic this past year. I don't know. But Ernie was playing much better coming into this week, and he did have the best record of the Int'l going into the Sunday's singles.

I agree. I guess Couples pandered to Tiger's egotistical need to square things up with Yang. But guess what Tiger, he still has your major trophy.

I couldn't have been more disappointed at the match ups. No one wanted to see Ohair play Els (especially Ernie). Who cares?

If you want to make this better for the fans then pair your big guns vs each other. Els-Woods, Mickelson-Singh. Maybe eliminate the dead weight on Sundays. Cut it to four groups, each match worth double points. Who wants to see Glover, Zach Johnson, Yang, or Allenby except for their friends.

The Presidents Cup & Ryder Cup are exhibitions of golf where skill and sportmanship are conducted for the advancement of golf. Why can't an event such as these have a positive, good strong competition without negativity. Does it really matter who plays who? These are professional and any one can have a good day or a not so good day. Cheers should be great for both sides.Nasty comments to the International team should not be tolerated.Yes if you are an American its go USA and applaud the International for great shots , effort and sportmanship.

While I am a big fan of your blogs, I respectfully disagree with the thought that the match-ups were boring because Couples and Norman did not want to match the top players against each other for a couple of reasons. First, this has been a strategy used in many of the past President's and Ryder Cups and has often been very successful. Secondly, everyone knows that when you get down to the top 20+ golfers in the world; anyone can beat anyone on a given day. I think that the record amount of fans that showed up and the great play combined for some very exciting matches. I do wish the weather would have been better though.
