The Golf Blog says: Butch Harmon must have been shaking his head as he saw his star pupils disintegrate on Sunday at the U.S. Open. First, Dustin Johnson gave up 6 shots in a matter of the first 4 holes, after having a pretty sizable 3 shot lead. Dustin tried to hit left handed and almost whiffed right handed out of the greenside rough in what can only be described as the most baffling shot selection ever in a U.S. Open final round by the leader. Second, star pupil Phil Mickelson could never get anything going after the 1st hole, which he birdied. Mickelson reverted back to the old Phil of missed opportunities.

If that weren’t enough for Butch Harmon, his former students fared no better. Tiger Woods went in reverse and couldn’t make anything happen on Sunday, after a promising display of spectacular shots and putts only the day before. And Ernie Els, who worked briefly with Butch, actually made a Sunday charge and found himself tied for the lead with Graeme McDowell at -3, only to coughing that away on the 10th hole by driving it off the cliff.

Not a good day for Team Harmon!
