The Golf Blog says: The Ryder Cup is being washed out by rain. But so are the U.S. Team players. The raingear the U.S. team is wearing looks cheap, but also apparently is absorbing too much water for the U.S. players. After 2 hours of play in the rain, the US Team Captain Corey Pavin has decided to go to the merchandise tent and buy new raingear that is sold generally to the public, perhaps at even the outrageous marked up prices!

The manufacturer of the raingear is Sun Mountain Golf, which has posted this photo on Facebook.

Any company that has “Sun” in its name should not be making raingear for the Ryder Cup team. That’s all we’re saying.

UPDATE: Sun Mountain Golf hasn’t been tweeting at all since this wardrobe malfunction. This kind of negative publicity could cripple the company, so someone at Sun Mountain Golf should be trying to address the problem.

UPDATE 2: According to David Dusek at Golf.com, Sun Mountain issued this statement: “Sun Mountain has been designing and selling outerwear for more than two decades….We have provided rainwear to 3,000+ PGA of America Professionals & over 150 tour players, & supplied outerwear to numerous U.S. teams….”
