Now what … until US Open?

I am curious to hear what folks think about the two-month period between the Masters and the US Open. This year, we have The Players Championship in May to keep our golf interest up, and that should help tide us golf-junkies over. But I still feel there is too long a break between the Master and the US Open, which is then followed by the final three majors being packed a bit too closely together.

I have no concrete suggestion for how to fill this little void, and the rescheduling of The Players Championship is a long overdue fix that ought to help. But I wonder if some smart folks could come up with an extra-special idea to make golf more buzz-worthy May.

Here is one thought: how about having the Q-school tourney or the US Amateur or the US Women’s Open scheduled for mid-May? All of these events get a bit lost in the mid/late-summer; up-and-comers and/or the LPGA could really benefit from having a signature event during this period.
