The Golf Blog says: People have debated whether Tiger Woods’s massive lowering of his head on his downswing is a swing flaw. We think it is, to the extent it produces both inconsistency on his driver (more moving parts, harder to replicate precisely each time) and increases the chance that his arms get stuck behind his body (as the room for his body to clear on the downswing is shrunk as he lowers his head and body closer to the ground). Well, we looked at old footage of Jack Nicklaus to see his head movement for comparison. While he did have some lowering of the head on his backswing, Jack kept his head pretty steady through the downswing. And if you look at Jack’s career stats, his driving accuracy was usually pretty high, around 65 to 70%, sometimes placing in the Top 20 on Tour.
