The Golf Blog says: Muirfield played pretty easy on the first day of the British Open, where the weather was sunny. Zach Johnson carded a 66 (-5) and has sole possession of the lead. Mark O’Meara, the 56 years old 1998 Champion, is one back at -4. “No matter what happens, listen, it was a joy out there today. One for the old farts,” said O’Meara.

Also surprisingly, Tom Lehman, the 1996 Champion, is -3, and Todd Hamilton, the 2004 Champion, is -2. What a blast from the past!

Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are both at -2.
