International... TV Coverage

According to CBS, International golf coverage will continue in the Eastern and Central time zones until 7pm. Then coverage will switch to the golf channel to conclude coverage.

For those in the Mountain and Western time zones, coverage will continue until the conclusion of the tournament.

As it stands now, Brandt Jobe is -3 points in the 4th round (thru 8), but still has a 3 point lead over Goosen.

The Golf Blog will have more coverage later tonight and in the next few days.

If Jobe had an ounce of talent out of the sand or the ability to make clutch putts, the tournament was his. What a boring final day...close, but not much of a showing play-wise. When a guy can win a stableford event and never make an eagle...phew. I wouldn't bet on Phil or Retief next weekend...they have to be spent.

Not to pounce on Jobe, but I thought of one more thing. You are standing on the 72nd hole with a 20 foot putt. If you make it, you win the tournament, and get a spot at next week's major. If you slam it past the hole and three putt, it will make no difference...you will still get 2nd place. So what does he do...he leaves the putt short. He deserves what one of my teammates received this past weekend in our scramble. If you leave a putt short, you have to get out of the cart and walk the next hole, carrying a bag from each of the carts. (We won the scramble with a 57...no handicapping(whew)).

Boy, it must be a slow day for golf, or a busy day for the lawyers. Major this week, and nothing new on the sight for days.
My thoughts:
Don't bet on anyone that played in the International. Slugging around for 36 holes on Sunday can't get you prepared for a major. I love ya, Goosy, but you are off my list.
Tiger could have the best year ever in majors if he pulls a win, and you have to know he knows it. When he played with Vijay last week, you can only think the two of them were just trying to sneak a peak at any routes on the holes that they hadn't already thought of. It should be a shoot-out for both of them.
Who do you think finished better at the Masters in 98 (Tiger won in 97 in record-setting fashion)...Jack in his 60s or Tiger? Jack got a top-10...Tiger wasn't even close.
When you look at the oddsmakers, guess who they have up there to win. One of the young guns that everyone talked about...Chad Campbell. Don't be surprised to see him come out of the woodwork like a Beemer.
With bentgrass for rough unlike in prior U.S. Opens, the PGA Championship will play long. If we get any rain, a medium hitter who can hit it in the fairway will leave the long boys in their dust. If you haven't played bent, the ball settles down, and you have to swing hard to advance it. Take one extra club, and never expect it to have any spin.
Looking at foreignors, I'd go with an Aussie. No, not Pampling, although he looked good last week, but Hensby, who did masterfully in two majors this year...his first two majors ever. Third's the charm.
You really want a long shot? Sure, it would be easy to go with O'Hair, Crane, Scott, or Johnson. But the man who left a wake with wins, and a top-10 blow-out earlier this year looks poised to resurface. That would be Stephen Ames.
