PGA Mid-morning report: Dr. Phil canceled
The Monday coverage of the PGA has canceled Dr. Phil in my area. Too bad. Meanwhile, Phil Mickelson parred 14 and 15, but then bogeyed the par-3 16. Phil hit his tee shot into the bunker, got a squirrelly lie, and then chunked it out some 25 feet from the hole. Phil missed the putt. Steve Elkington’s also tied at -3, but he’s just duck hooked his drive on 18 into the trees — though it bounced out.
Thomas Bjorn just birdied 17 to get into a tie for the lead with Phil and Steve Elkington.
UPDATE: Phil just stuffed a wedge to about 10 feet on 17, while Elkington stuffed his wedge to about 8 feet on 18. Both putts for birdie. Elkington missed, … Phil just missed, grazing the lip. Phil, Elkington, Bjorn still tied at -3.
