Lo and behold, the PGA season for 2007 starts next week in Hawaii. Are you kidding me? I love Hawaii, but didn’t the PGA season for 2006 just end in December?

Can you blame Tiger Woods, who just announced today that he’s skipping next week’s Mercedes Championship in Hawaii? The same goes for AWOL Phil Mickelson, who has bigger issues to deal with following his US Open debacle. Although Jason Sobel of ESPN thinks Tiger and Phil should be expected to play, I’m actually glad they are not playing next week. Maybe it will force the PGA to rethink its never-ending schedule and allow the players a true offseason.
