Will Sergio Garcia will win the British Open?

Sergio Garcia just rolled in another birdie to tie for the lead, at -4. He’s using his new belly putter and it seems to be working very well.

I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that Sergio Garcia will win his first major this week. It would be a big win for Europe if he did. How’s that for double jinxing the guy? (props to Tiger)

UPDATE: Garcia just rolled in another birdie! -5, solo lead of the British Open. If I were in Scotland right now, I would bet the house on Garcia.

UPDATE 3 p.m. (ET): Sergio finished at -6, setting the Carnoustie course record for the Open Championship. Tells you how easy the course played today. But El Nino was putting lights out today, and his ball-striking has always been solid. I have never seen Sergio putt as well. He should win this week if he keeps this up.

If you are stuck at work, you can watch live on the Internet. Here’s also a hole-by-hole look at Carnoustie (PDF) for downloading, compliments of mulliganplus.com.
