“Given our reputation in our sport, how honorable our sport is and always has been and will continue to be, I think that the penalty has got to be somewhat significant,” Tiger said on Monday.

We all have Gary Player to thank for effectively putting the PGA’s feet to the fire, with his unsubstantiated claim that he had personal knowledge of one player (if not several players) who was taking performance-enhancing drugs.

In our steroids era, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Gary Player was right. The pressure to hit the long ball today is so great.
