After leader Vijay Singh rattled off 3 bogeys in the back nine, 47 year old Steve Lowery — ranked No. 305 in the world — took his opening. Lowery shot a 68 to sneak into a playoff with Singh and then won in a playoff. Now, Lowery’s going to the Masters. Unbelievable.
Singh was pretty hard on himself after the round, stating: “I let this one slip away. I was in control, but those (bogeys) took a little air out of me. I still should have won the tournament. There’s no excuse for that.”
Wonder if this has anything to do with Vijay’s swing changes from last year. I was surprised to hear that he was even changing his swing after it seemed so reliable that one year.
