Hey, gang, we are reporting live from Cog Hill! Beautiful day here in the Chicago area. And it is turning out to be a special day for Tiger Woods. It was spine-tingling electric!

After trailing leader Marc Leishman (then -10) for the better part of the front nine, Tiger Woods birdied 8, eagled 9, birdied 11, birdied 13, birdied 14, birdied 15. Tiger finished with a 9-under 62, setting the course record at Cog Hill. Tiger has a 7-shot lead over Brandt Snedeker and Leishman. But this one’s over, folks.

What we saw @ the course:

1. Fans screaming for Paddy Harrington, but go deathly silent for his playing partner Rory Sabbatini, after the 2 passed. It was embarrassing!! Maybe the reason why Norman didn’t pick Sabbatini is that he isn’t well liked!!

2. The crowds are really not big at all. Hardly any golf traffic, but tons of usual Chicago area traffic–boo. Another bummer: security is checking all cellphones and cameras at the door.

3. Tiger gave his ball to someone on 8.

4. Some guy yelled to Tiger Woods after his eagle on 9, “You are ridiculous, Tiger!!” In a good way. Tiger even seemed to acknowledge the remark and encouragement–everyone else was going nuts and shouting as well.

5. We spotted Stewart Cink putting in over 90 minutes of practice on the range and the putting green after his round. It was weird to seem him without a cap. He spotted us watching him!

6. Cog Hill has a scenic driving range, with a rustic barn in the background.

7. If you own a BMW, you can drive up to the special parking lot for BMW owners. But it fills up early.

8. The players get BMWs for the week. The cars are even washed in the parking lot!

10. The mercandise tent was a little bit underwhelming, to be frank.

11. Cog Hill is beautiful. Big and hilly!
