The Golf Blog says: Talk about timing! On the even of the Masters, The New York Times has an excellent article (click here) out today analyzing the failures of Tiger Woods’ golf course design business. Due to what appears to be the perfect storm of the housing bubble, financial crisis, and Tiger Woods’ own sex scandal, Tiger’s once promising golf course design business appears to be–like his swing–stalled.
Projects at Punta Brava, Mexico, Asheville, NC, and Dubai are nowhere near completion and appear to be in limbo, if not dead. Tiger hasn’t finished designing any golf course, in other words.
One interesting fact that the NYT skirts over: Bryon Bell, the president of Tiger Woods Design, is the same guy (Tiger’s childhood friend) who arranged for Rachel Uchitel to rendezvous with Tiger Woods in Australia before the sex scandal broke. Click here for more about Bryon Bell. We wonder if Bell’s role in apparently arranging “booty calls” for Tiger also may have something to do with the downslide of Tiger Woods Design. Business people still might be leery of possible negative PR from Tiger’s sex scandal.
