The Golf Blog: Ryann O’Toole is surprise pick for US Solheim Cup team; but no Natalie Gulbis
The Golf Blog says: Rosie Jones picked Vicky Hurst and Ryann O’Toole as her two captain’s picks for the Solheim Cup team. Vicky Hurst finished at the Top 11 in points, so her selection was no surprise.
Ryann O’Toole, of Big Break Sandals fame, was a surprise. She finished at No. 18 in points and played in only 7 LPGA events (although did well in a number of them).
Others who qualified for the team automatically on points: Cristie Kerr, Stacy Lewis, Morgan Pressel, Angela Stanford, Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie, Brittany Lincicome, Brittany Lang, Juli Inkster, and Christina Kim.
In selecting Ryann, Rosie Jones decided against picking fan favorite Natalie Gulbis and other more experienced golfers who finished higher than Ryann:
