The Golf Blog says: Ever since Annika Sorenstam retired, the LPGA has been desperately searching for a new superstar to be the face of the tour. Michelle Wie didn’t work out. Nor did Lorena Ochoa, Paula Creamer, Natalie Gulbis, Yani Tseng. Most members of the public probably don’t have a clue who plays on the LPGA tour and haven’t ever seen a tourney.

Well, today, 16 year old Lexi Thompson goes for her first LPGA victory, which would make her the youngest to win an LPGA event. Should Lexi win, this could be the start of some excitement on the LPGA tour and perhaps the birth of the superstar that the LPGA has lacked since Annika left.
