The Golf Blog says: When we look back in time over the course of 2011, perhaps a few years from now, we may find the moment when Tiger Woods began his ascendancy back to the top of the golf world. Earlier this year, Greg Norman predicted that Tiger Woods will never win a major again, and indicated that Tiger should not have been selected for the President’s Cup this year. Norman criticized Tiger’s swing changes, to top it all off.
Well, after those comments, Tiger’s golf game suddenly seemed to revive from the dead. Tiger finished third at the Australian Open, a tournament with Greg Norman in the field (Norman finished tied for 53rd). Then, Tiger clinched the victory for the U.S. Team at the President’s Cup over Greg Norman’s team, with an absolutely dominating 5-birdie performance over Aaron Baddeley. And, this week, Tiger is leading the Chevron Invitational by 3-shots, after a beautiful barrage of shotmaking reminiscent of the Tiger of old.
Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are currently even in terms of majors at age 35–14 majors. If Tiger wins several majors in 2012, we will all have Greg Norman to thank. Jack Nicklaus probably wishes that Greg put a sock in it.
UPDATE: Tiger Woods birdied the last two holes to beat Zach Johnson by one shot. Click here for complete coverage and video highlights.
