The Golf Blog says: Congrats to 15 year old Lydia Ko from New Zealand (who won the U.S. Women’s Amateur at age 14)! Lydia won the Canadian Open today, becoming the youngest player ever to win an LPGA event. Lydia is a product of New Zealand’s Institute of Golf, which trains up and coming juniors.

After the round, Golf Channel asked Lydia, an amateur, what she would have done if she pocketed the $300,000 first place prize. Lydia said she might have purchased a dog and then donated the money to help poor people. What a great kid.

Lydia hopes to play golf at Stanford one day. Go Cardinal!
