The Golf Blog says: For a moment, it looked like Adam Scott won his first major by sinking an 18-foot birdie on the final hole, with his ball barely sneaking in by circling the hole from the left side, reminiscent of Phil Mickelson’s birdie to win his first Masters. Scott, who hadn’t made a putt all day, screamed “c’mon, Aussie!!” and pumped his fists, and then high-fived caddy Stevie Williams. After the round, Adam admitted that he thought he just won the Masters with that putt, remembering numerous other champions who won on the final hole (Mark O’Meara was the one to come to mind).

Angel Cabrera, who was the co-leader before Scott birdied, saw everything from the 18th fairway. Cabrera, a 2-time major winner, wasn’t daunted. He striped his approach to 4 feet from the hole. Unbelievable. Cabrera had no trouble sinking the birdie putt to force a playoff. Both finished at -9. Wow. Amazing finish, guys.

1st Playoff Hole (18): Both chipped and putted for pars. Angel nearly chipped in for birdie.

2nd Playoff Hole (10): Angel nearly outdrove Adam’s 3-wood with an iron. Both in the fairway in good position. Angel striped a 6-iron 200 yards on the green, good chance for birdie. Adam striped his 6-iron, pin high, right of the hole and slightly closer than Angel’s. Both gave each other a thumb’s up. Putting contest. Cabrera misses by an inch, so close! After conferring with Stevie Williams on the line who told him it was at least two cups break to the left, Adam sinks it!!!!!!!!

Adam Scott wins the Masters, his first major and Australia’s first Masters ever. Congrats, Adam! You earned it! Afterwards, Adam hugged his father, Phil, coming off the 10th green. His father said, “It doesn’t get any better than this.”
