Bushwood, CC, Florida, April 1. PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem has finally laid down the law. Vijay Singh is suspended for 1 year for violating the Tour’s anti-doping policy by taking deer antler spray. Singh said he didn’t realize deer antler spray was a banned substance.
But, in the suspension handed out, Finchem said ignorance is no excuse. “Whether a player is taking deer antler spray or cat nip, he is accountable for what he puts in his body.” The suspension is the longest handed out by Finchem for a violation of the Tour’s anti-doping policy. The suspension goes into effect immediately so Vijay is out of next week’s Masters.
Singh has yet to issue a statement. He was a fool to take the deer antler spray, so he only has himself to blame.
